Puppy Dog Love vs. Chocolate Truffles!

Puppy Dog Love vs. Chocolate Truffles!

by Asia K.

Valentine’s Day has passed. Did you happen do a little something extra for your goofy pup to thank him for all the unlimited dog love you receive? Hmmm?

Did you ‘extra’ love your dog during the LOVE Holiday? Did you make sure to remember the dog between all the romantic exchanges, lovely activities and chocolate treats?

It’s ok, you can be honest! Did you just think, “Ooops, how could I have forgetten! I’m gonna give my dog lotsa hugs’n cuddles when I come home.” or maybe you thought, “ABSOLUTELY!” Whatever the case may be, it’s never too late to love your dog!

Of course DOG LOVE is the ultimate winner over yummy dark chocolate truffles, all day any day. It’s incomparable, not even close!

Halle woke me up first thing on February 14th. As I opened my eyes to greet her, her sleepy head was staring at me radiating with abundant loving energy. I kissed her forehead good morning and whispered “Happy Valentine’s Day Lovey.” Charlie was still snoozing, rolled like a bagel in his bed – made me smile. I got up and started my morning routine with Halle lazily trailing behind me and I thought how important it is to acknowledge and be grateful for the daily love your dog offers you, even when it’s not V-day!

Even though the love day just passed, why not give your furry buddy an extra treat like a nice dog tug of war game or perhaps a fun session of chase around the house to celebrate the unconditional amount of pure dog love your pup gives you every single day?

With the almost never ending to-do’s, the gazillion responsibilities of family and work, it’s really easy to sometimes forget how truly wonderful our pets are. The great thing about dogs is, you never have to ask yourself “Does my dog love me?” One look at them gives it away!

They naturally never dwell on the past or worry about the future. They’re always living in the present moment. I think that’s one of the most valuable gifts they have to offer considering our overloaded lifestyles.

The next time your dog comes over for a cuddle or a pat on the head, I want you to take a minute to focus and notice how present and ‘in the moment’ you both are. Take that simple instant to decompress, take a deep breath and thank your dog for bringing you back in the now. As a dog owner you’re very lucky to be able to share your days with that super special dog of yours. Offer compassion and kindness to your puppy dog love whenever you can and I promise many more kisses and tail wags.

Whether its Valentine’s Day, National Dog Day, National Mutt Day, National Puppy Day or any other doggy day, you don’t have to wait for a special time to truly appreciate your dog. Love that dog of yours everyday and watch your exceptional bond grow!

Yes, I love my dog more than chocolate truffles!

Or Shall I say, I love Four-Legged Furry Truffles over Chocolate Ones! :P

Since we’re on the subject of dog love, what’s that special something you do that shows your l-o-v-e to your pooch? Take a moment to share your comments below.

Awww! Nice post. Now that we have two dogs (Aspen our beloved Wht Shepherd mix and Lucy our Weim puppy), we have to divvy up the attention sometimes. Lucy is an attention hog. Whenever I try to give Aspen hugs and kisses, along comes Lucy to get her share and Aspen’s. Sometimes I’ll take Aspen out by myself so we can have our girl time. And Aspen is the only dog that is sleeps in the bed with us. So at night she gets extra snuggles, hugs and kisses.

We also get the girls beef bones as a special treat. They LOVE them!

I have to admit … our dogs come first every day of the year ;-) Every day of the year we take care of their needs before we take care of ours. I think that proves our love for them.

Awesome. Loved this post. It is so true. My Zelda girl sleeps with me and she is one to make me smile every single morning when she goes out to pee as quickly as possible so she can hurry and jump back in bed with me and do a little cuddle!

Happy Valentine’s Day to from Weirmer to Weimer!
